    KfW continues the tradition of inviting delegates to a reception at its Berlin branch on the evening preceding the Congress. The exclusive setting gives Congress participants an opportunity to hold informal initial discussions.

  •   Networking Reception

        

    The business part of Congress Day 1 will be rounded off with a small Networking Reception hosted by TSI. You will be able to discuss the day's topics in greater depth or establish contact with others over a glass of wine or beer and a selection of appetisers.

  •   Exclusive ride in the Aquadom and Wine & Cheese Tasting in Foyer Alexanderplatz

               

    From 19.30 till 20.30 all participants have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Aquadom from inside on a trip to the DomLounge. Experience the wonder of travelling through 1 million litres of water with glimpses of a beautiful underwater world and join from there a special "Wine & Cheese Tasting" in the Foyer Alexanderplatz starting at 19.30 as well. All welcome! No prior registration required.

    Russland und Putin – nur wenige Themen haben die westliche Welt in den letzten Jahren derart bewegt. Von der Annexion der Krim über die Syrien-Intervention, die amerikanischen Wahlen bis hin zu den  Schlagzeilen aus UK. Die westliche Welt ist tief enttäuscht, doch ihr fehlt letztendlich auch die Strategie. Man bedauert, dass Russland anders ist und schwankt stetig, wie man damit umgehen soll. Von Wandel durch Handel bis hin zu Boykott und radikaler Abgrenzung reichen die Handlungsoptionen. Doch um ein Land zu verstehen, muss man einen Blick in seine Geschichte und deren interne Bewältigung werfen.

    "Wohin steuert Russland?“ lautet daher der Titel des diesjährigen Weinabends und wir freuen uns mit Prof. Dr. Jörg Baberowski einen Vortragsgast gewonnen zu haben, der zu diesem Thema so profund, umfassend und überzeugend sprechen kann wie, kaum ein anderer. Der angesehene Historiker gilt als einer der besten weltweiten Experten zum Thema Stalinismus und Entwicklung der Sowjetunion sowie der neueren Geschichte Osteuropas.

    Freuen Sie sich daher auf einen besonderen Abend mit ihm unter der Moderation von Dr. Michael Weller.

  •   Chill-out and Get-together

    From 21.30 Congress participants can bring the first day of the Congress to a close in an informal "Chill-out and Get-together" with a cocktail bar. The hotel's glass-panelled DomLounge with a view over Berlin's fascinating skyline is the ideal location.

  •   Visit to the Reichstag Fully booked

    The Reichstag building is just a few steps from the Brandenburg Gate and is a must for every visitor to Berlin. The Reichstag has been the seat of the German Bundestag (lower house of parliament) since 1999. Almost no other building in Germany is as fully representative of the vicissitudes of German history since the 19th century. The "Evergreen" in the TSI sightseeing programme.

  •   Visit to Berlin Tempelhof Fully booked

    The heritage-protected building of Airport Tempelhof reflects Berlin’s eventful history. It is an expression of Nazi ideology and served as a weapons production site using forced labour in World War II. But Tempelhof is also a symbol of freedom, as the 1948/49 Berlin airlift made the airport world-famous and a legend.

  •   Tour UNESCO World Heritage site Museum Island Fully booked

    Tour of Berlin’s Museum Island with its unique complex of buildings, visit to the Altes Museum, the Neues Museum and the Pergamum Museum. Highlights of the tour: gods of antiquity in the Schinkel Rotunde, bust of Nefertiti, monumental architecture from Babylon.

  •   Visit to the Pergamon Museum - Highlights

    The tour traces the footsteps of 2,500 years of human history, along the Processional Way of ancient Babylon to the Market Gate of Miletus to the early Islamic Mshatta Façade, ending in the 17th century Aleppo Room. The symbols, forms and colours of these architectures are still impressive.
